Sogyal Rinpoche, 1947 – 2019, Rest in Meditation

On the 16th August last, I wrote about the Tibetan Lama, Sogyal Rinpoche, and speculated whether he was a direct reincarnation of an 8th century Tibetan Buddhist, Guru Rinpoche. What I didn’t know at the time I wrote my blog was that Sogyal Rinpoche was receiving treatment for colon cancer and, unfortunately, he passed away at 1 PM yesterday, Wednesday 28 August in a hospital in Thailand. May he rest in peace or, as the official press release put it, rest in meditation.
If my theories about reincarnation are correct, there’s a new karma up for grabs. It may take a while to find a suitable human or non-human animal host but ‘watch this space’.
(^_^)
Definitely an “eerie coincidence” on an obscure subject Ben but what I am wondering is how you came to find out that Tibetan Lama, Sogyal Rinpoche, had recently died. I mean, he would not exactly be featured in ‘The Times’ obits would he? Or, was he??
Just curious!

Actually, I would be amazed if Sogyal Rinpoche’s death was not reported in The Times. He was a big cheese in the Buddhist world. But that’s not where I read about his movement into permanent meditation. His death was mentioned on the BBC World website. I provided the link in my posting but here it is again: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-49505098
