Allan King’s Way, 2012

Allan King’s Way, 42 miles, 3 walking days, 2010

Winchester – Upham – Soberton – Portchester

Allan King was a walk leader with the Meon Valley Ramblers’ Association in the 1970s and ‘80s.  I started my interest in walking under Allan’s leadership and he will always be remembered as a man with a big rucksack and an even bigger enthusiasm for walking in the Hampshire countryside.  He created this long-distance path in Hampshire and it was somewhat eerie walking in his footsteps albeit some thirty to forty years later.  Carol was plagued with blisters.

Allan died in 1989.  He was only 59 years old.
